Episode 12 - You Can’t Do It All—And You Shouldn’t: Support Systems Every Woman in Real Estate Needs

Let me take you back to 2015.

It was 3 AM. I was sitting on the floor, pumping, exhausted, and feeling like I was failing at everything—business, motherhood, life. I had just had my first baby. I was running a brokerage, personally selling $15 million a year, and managing a team of agents who relied on me. And at that moment, watching Steve Harvey on TV (because what else is on at 3 AM?), I had a terrifying thought:

Is this what I signed up for?

Because I wasn’t showing up the way I wanted to—for my baby, for my agents, for my clients. I was spread so thin that I felt like I was crumbling under the weight of it all.

Looking back, I now recognize that part of it was probably postpartum depression and anxiety. But that moment was also a breaking point.

I had been so determined to prove that I could do it all that I refused to ask for help. And I paid the price.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re drowning in responsibilities, this episode is for you.

The Truth About Success in Real Estate

Let’s get real—every successful woman in real estate has a support system. Period.

Those top-producing agents you see on the leaderboards? The ones closing deals left and right? They are not doing it alone. Even if it’s just one name on the sign, there’s a whole team behind them—assistants, coordinators, automation, boundaries.

Yet, so many of us have been conditioned to think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. We’ve been taught that we should be able to handle it all, juggle everything effortlessly, and never need a break.

But let me tell you something…

Refusing support isn’t strength—it’s sabotage.

Building Your Business Dream Team

If you want to grow, you have to stop spending your time on things that aren’t actually making you money. Instead, you need to build a business support system that allows you to focus on what only you can do: serving clients, building relationships, and closing deals.

Here’s where to start:

A Mentor or Business Coach: If you’re trying to figure it all out alone, you’re taking the slowest and hardest path. A mentor or coach can give you the perspective, accountability, and strategies to actually grow.

Administrative & Operational Support: A virtual assistant (VA) or admin can take those low-dollar, time-consuming tasks off your plate—emails, scheduling, social media, marketing.

A Transaction Coordinator: If you only hire one person, let it be a TC. They will save you hours every week by handling contract-to-close paperwork, disclosures, and all the details that keep deals moving.

A Marketing Admin: Lead generation, branding, social media, direct mail—if you aren’t leveraging marketing, you’re leaving money on the table. This role is a game-changer.

A Showing Agent or Buyer’s Agent: When you have more business than you can handle, hiring someone to help with showings or take over buyer clients can free up massive amounts of time.

I wish I had known this sooner. Back in 2015, one of the first shifts I made was deciding to stop working with buyers altogether and refer them to my agents. That one decision alone gave me back hours of my life each week.

So, what could you delegate?

Your Home Support System Matters, Too

Here’s something we don’t talk about enough: your home support system is just as critical as your business one. Because let’s be honest—if your personal life is chaos, it will 100% impact your business.

Yet, we’ve been conditioned to think that household help is a luxury instead of a strategy.

Here’s what I want you to consider:

🔹 Cleaning services, meal delivery, grocery delivery, laundry services—these are not indulgences. They are smart investments in your time and energy. If your hourly rate is $100, and you can pay someone less than that to free up three hours a week, wouldn’t that be a no-brainer?

🔹 A supportive partner (not a saboteur). Your business requires time, energy, and focus. If your partner isn’t on board with that, they may be unintentionally sabotaging your success. Open communication and fair division of household responsibilities are key. (P.S. If you haven’t read Fair Play by Eve Rodsky, add it to your list!)

🔹 Reliable childcare or pet care. Whether it’s daycare, babysitters, or pet sitters, knowing your kids or pets are taken care of reduces stress and allows you to focus.

🔹 A personal support system. Surround yourself with friends who lift you up, not ones who drain your energy. We already deal with enough emotional stress in real estate—your personal relationships should fuel you, not exhaust you.

🔹 Therapy. Yes, I’m saying it. A good therapist is one of the best investments you can make in your business and your personal well-being. You don’t have to carry the weight of everything alone.

Success Is Never a Solo Act

I know what some of you might be thinking—this all sounds great, but I should be able to handle it on my own.

Let me stop you right there.

Would you judge a man for hiring a full-time assistant, a housekeeper, or a nanny? No? Then why are you holding yourself to a different standard?

You deserve support. You deserve ease. And most importantly, you deserve to build a business that doesn’t require you to sacrifice your sanity.

So here’s my challenge to you:

1️⃣ Write down three business tasks you could outsource right now.
2️⃣ Write down three household responsibilities you could delegate.
3️⃣ Have one conversation this week with someone who could take something off your plate—whether it’s a VA, a TC, a coach, or a cleaning service.

Because here’s the truth:

You don’t have to do it all. You just have to do what matters most.
